Forty-five original watercolors of plants mounted on paper. The watercolors may have been produced in Canton. Many bear "M. and J. Lay or J. Whatman” watermarks dated 1815 to 1819. Watercolors include butterflies, moths, or other possible pollinators. Latin names have been added in pencil.

Scope and Contents: The collection consists of Chinese export paintings of fruits, flowers, and vegetables collected by Warren Delano. The paintings were likely produced in Canton, present-day Guangzhou, by various artists. There are 600 illustrations, 583 are watercolors and 17 are prints.
